To carry out the servicing, repair, installation and cleaning of a comprehensive range of Naval and Commercial Water and Ventilation Systems and Facilities.  

Skills Required/Qualifications

  • The Service Engineer is to be trained and will have successfully completed IOSH accredited health and safety training to a Silver Passport as a minimum standard and be able to demonstrate how to carry out the following tasks in accordance with Quality Procedures
  • Manual Handling
  • How to carry out Fire Sentry Duties
  • All aspects of Confined Space Entry/Confined Space Sentry
  • Environmental and spill control/response
  • Understand and be able to put in to action MAR Pack Procedures for specialist cleaning and services of tanks and bilges. Ensuring that all tasks are carried out to customer satisfaction and that the acceptance sheet is signed on job completion
  • Have a full understanding of working in confined spaces in accordance with Quality Procedures and able to set up the task in accordance with the MAR pack for that particular task
  • Understand what is required by the customer and the difference between specialist cleaning standards in tanks and bilges
  • Specialist Cleaning to a Survey Standard
  • Specialist Cleaning to a Hot Work Standard
  • Specialist Cleaning to a Preservation Standard
  • Good working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSA 18001
  • Good Knowledge of ships systems and maintenance programs
  • Carry out surveys and report writing on job specific tasks
  • Fitting Experience/Indentured Fitter/Minimum of 5 years working on ships systems

Main Job Tasks

  • To train, supervise, organise and lead staff under your control. 
  • Installation, Overhaul, Servicing, Repair and Cleaning of ships systems in accordance with Quality Procedures
  • Waste Management in accordance with Quality and Environmental Policies
  • Working in Confined Spaces ensuring correct PPE is used and all Health & Safety procedures are adhered to
  • Visit customer premises and maintain company standards at all times
  • Understanding and implementing of Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work and COSHH regulations
